A Number of Hurt as Turbulence Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Arriving in Sydney, Australia
Several people have been injured following a Delta aircraft from Los Angeles to Sydney was hit by rough air on Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a company official informed. Four flight attendants were injured.
Emergency medical services stated they treated a total of five people, and transferred three to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that such as spinal discomfort and headaches. Those affected spanned from their thirties and seventies.
The event represents the most recent case of commercial jets encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists indicating that global warming is a significant contributor.
There were 245 people and a crew of 15 on the wide-body jet, the representative noted, stating that the plane touched down "safely and normally" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.
Paramedics reported they got a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane touched down, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
