Emma Raducanu ends the current season and has decided to continue with her coach for 2026.

Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events this season as a result of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in events in Asia but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training will include trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering in 2026.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu because of back discomfort that has affected her at times this year.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
