Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
