Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”
In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
