The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG
The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to launch in April of 2026.
"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, providing fans a new way to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.
Launch products will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the United States into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. This is where the agents come in.
Development on the RPG has been in progress for approximately several years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin right after the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.
A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
An early look at the game's rules reveals it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its new GRIS system, promoting a streamlined and strategic approach. Players leverage abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, participants select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
- Achieving a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Combat Focus On Positioning and Awareness
Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Elements like cover, elevation, or line of sight have a direct impact success chances. This system is designed to favor teamwork and clever tactics over simple statistics.
A Thematic Health System
The way health is managed introduces a interesting thematic twist. Agents have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.
- At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not unconscious.
- They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
- Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.
An Introductory Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the campaign launch.
