Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
